With 40 percentile in an entrance exam, you may get calls from some B-schools for taking admission. However, none of them would be reputed and it will be a waste doing MBA from such colleges; not taking admission is advised. Not only you will lose out two precious years, but also it may spoil your career too. You can appear for those exams again (if you wish) with better levels of preparations and get a good score.

To get best thing in your life you have to be best in your life and one need to sacrifice the comfort zone, need to have lot of hard work and perseverance. In 80 percentile, it is difficult to even getting into newer IIMs, if you are from an open category.
