The direct admission in the second year of engineering is called lateral entry.
The basic eligibility is to have a Diploma engineering degree.
You may also have to appear for LEET exam if required.

Entry Entrance Test for B.E/B.Tech courses, conducted by leading Institutes for providing admissions in 3rd semester of B.E. /B.Tech courses. So both are the same. After Diploma, one can directly apply for second year engineering in any Engineering College. But, you must clear your Lateral Entry entrance Examination of the concern university. Management quota seats are available normally in the first year admission. Lateral admissions are covered under entirely different clause and hence this quota is not available.

<p>A lateral entry admission is one where a student directly enters in the second year of his engineering, MCA or MBA, etc. degrees. Each degree has its own admission criterion. For example for B.Tech, lateral entry candidate must have completed a Diploma in their respective branch or B.Sc in PCM to be eligible for the lateral entry programme. Candidates after completing their Diploma, have to appear for LEET (a special examination for enrollment in the engineering colleges offering lateral entry for B.Tech). Dear Deepti,
After completing diploma engineering in any branch, you can get admission in 2nd year of engineering. For that, you will have to appear in LEET exam conducted by each state's government and some deemed universities also. In mostly colleges, only 10% seats of total are available for diploma engineering students so work hard.

If you clear the cut off then you are eligible for counseling. But it is not necessary to get seat in IITS. Because they qualify more students. If you get high score from cut off marks then you will get admission in IITS.

2. 10 % seats are reserved for these students.
3. Candidate are sit in JEE Advanced exam.

Perfect Answer doesn't Exist!,

To be on safer side, it would be better to get 90%+ in class 12th Board exams. The eligibility is just 60%, in order to get into IIT or NIT with that score you should score high in Mains.
