If sessions of 2nd year did not start yet, I suggest you to request your college authorities to change your branch, so that you may get the branch of your interest. As someone told you that fill a form of GATE in ECE this is not possible as you are pursuing CSE so it's not possible to fill GATE in ECE.

Yes, you can. For that, you have to join Diploma in Engineering on the basis of class 10th percentage. After 3 years, you will get admission in Direct second Year Engineering ( DSY) for 3 years. You can choose software branch for that.

ECE is about electronics and how the different electrical components (Microprocessor, RAM etc.). Communicate with each other. It has more Physics in it. There is a little programming involved but not much. CSE deals with telling these components what to do and when to do it; by programming them. It has a lot of logic involved and Maths too. Eg: In designing a tablet/phone, all the hardware work is done by the ECE people and all the software stuff (making the different components like RAM, processor talk to each other, and the Operating system) is done by the CSE people. Both are inter-dependent. Placement wise, ECE is a little better than ... View more
