It's not a problem if you haven't studied computers, you will learn the basics in the 1st year.
If you are not confident then go for mechanical engineering.

Management & IT Consultant,

Syllabus of Computer Science and IT overlap between 80 to 90% in various universities. CS is the study of computers and computational systems. Computer scientists deal mostly with software and software systems; this includes their theory, design, development, and application. IT engineering is application of CS for enterprises to meet business goals. CS graduates can easily do both Application and Systems development whereas IT engineers are trained to work on application development. Indian IT industry prefers CS graduates over IT because CS is branch taken by toppers in all engineering entrance examinations.

Hi Preshita,
Congratulations for CET score that you have obtained. As you have not mentioned your category, I will assume it to be general. What I have observed is, you need to score 175+ to get into COEP. Frankly speaking, you might not get an admission in COEP with this score under general category. Still, you can try in 2nd or 3rd round. All the Best.

Dear Sachin, Fee structure for admission through CET is as per the KEA norms. Management quota fee is as below
<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://vdrit.org/management-fee-structure/" style='word-wrap:break-word;'>http://vdrit.org/management-fee-structure/</a>
There are some other good universities like LPU, SRM, Manipal, etc, where you get scholarship, thus making the fee more affordable. Check their websites too.
Good luck.

Hi Sanjay,
As your JEE Mains rank is 22824 and your board score is 94.77%, so you are eligible for all the nits. But, if you are determined in computer Science engineering then you should go for middle and lower order nits like NIT Patna, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Durgapur etc. But, apply for all the nits available in the list. Specialist in IT is not enough. You have to be the best in other things also. AI is hot right now, or at least parts of AI are hot: vision, deep learning, big-data mining, language technologies, biomedical applications of AI, robotics. Lot of companies are hiring, and there is a shortage of people with experience and training in this area. Good luck.

The major difference between both these field is that IT deals with the application of computing technology to real life processes, while, Computer Science deals with the Science that facilitates these applications.
