There is no direct comparison as it is two different area of expertise and have different field requirements. A historian works with authentic information and study of the past while an archaeologist works with researching hidden civilization, artifacts, and preservation of the past.

A historian in India has an average salary range between INR 3LPA and 25 LPA where an archaeologist's salary package varies between INR 3 LPA to 15 LPA.

Students must keep in mind that the salary majorly depends upon your field of knowledge, research and expertise and can vary accordingly.

Of course, you can study archeology at undergraduate level as you have lots of interest in this subject. The basic eligibility to study archeology as a degree subject is to clear 12th with any stream. After doing graduation you can do PG Diploma in archeology which may vary from one to two years.
