AMIE shall give you a qualification equivalent to B.E. or B.Tech. It is a good idea to pursue that as you are already working. In aviation, engineers who work on aircrafts and take care of their maintenance and repairs are games. They hold a certified license issued by DGCA. Only they are allowed to work on aircrafts. Apart from these there are various other profiles like airport managers, deputy managers, IT managers, commercial staff etc., where BE and B.Tech holders are invited to join the organisation. If you are talking about Indira Gandhi Institute of Aeronautics then it is a private institution. It has nothing to do with government. IGIA is a professional team managed by professionals with a combined experience of more than 50 years in the aviation industry.

No, there is no requirement for Class 1 and 2 medical requirements for AMEs.
Class 1 Medical Assessment is required for applicants and holders of:
- Commercial Pilots Licence (Aeroplane & Helicopter);
- Airline Transport Pilots Licence (Aeroplane & Helicopter);
- Flight Navigators Licence;
- Student Flight Navigators Licence;
- Flight Engineers Licence;
- Student Flight Engineers Licence.
- Private Pilot's Licence (Aeroplane and helicopter), where Instrument Rating (Aeroplane and Helicopter) privileges are required.

Science students can become Aircraft Maintainance Engineers or Flight Despatchers or Air Traffic Controllers etc. There are many roles in management and admin department also, which do not have any specifications for Science or commerce candidates. You may also apply for such roles.
