Yes, BAMS or BHMS graduates can pursue pediatric specializations within their own medical systems, such as Kaumarbhritya (Ayurvedic pediatrics) or Homeopathic Pediatrics. These are separate from allopathic pediatrics.
However, they cannot pursue MD Pediatrics (Allopathy) or practice as allopathic pediatricians unless they earn an MBBS degree and meet the eligibility criteria set by NMC or other regulatory bodies.

Each medical system has a unique approach to treatment, diagnosis, and patient care. Homeopathy relies on the principle of "similia similibus curentur", Ayurveda follows a dosha-based balance system, while Allopathy uses modern drugs and surgeries for disease management.
Aspect | Homeopathy | Ayurveda | Allopathy |
|---|---|---|---|
Principle | Like cures like (Similia Similibus Curentur) | Balancing the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) | Treats symptoms using drugs and surgery |
Treatment Approach | Highly diluted natural remedies | Herbal medicines, diet, lifestyle changes | Synthetic drugs, antibiotics, surgical interventions |
Disease Focus | Chronic and lifestyle diseases | Preventive and curative treatments | Acute, chronic, emergency conditions |
Side Effects | Minimal due to high dilution | Rare but possible with improper dosage | Can have side effects due to chemical-based drugs |
Regulation & Research | Limited scientific validation | Traditional and WHO-recognized | Strong research backing and global standardization |

Ayurveda emphasizes disease prevention through balanced diet, daily routines (Dinacharya), seasonal regimens (Ritucharya), and herbal supplements. It focuses on strengthening immunity, improving digestion, and reducing stress to maintain long-term health.
By identifying imbalances early and making lifestyle modifications, Ayurveda helps prevent chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. This proactive approach makes it a valuable addition to modern healthcare systems.
