The BDes course fees at top colleges are somewhere around INR 3 Lacs to INR 20 lakh. The BDes fee structure includes tuition fees and other additional charges like hostel fees, college application charges, semester exam registration fees, lab work fees, caution money, student welfare fund and other miscellaneous charges.

The time that is involved in the BDes admission process cannot be said with any certainty because each college follows its own admission guidelines but usually it takes around 4 to 6 months for students to grab a seat at their desired college. This is because the admission procedure includes college applications, entrance exams, portfolio submission (if applicable) and a PI round/studio test that takes a good amount of time.

For BDes admissions, you have both options available: merit- and entrance based entry. Most of the top design institutes give admission on the basis of relevant entrance exam scores like NIFT Entrance Exam, NID DAT, UCEED, CUET, etc. along with PI and portfolio submission rounds. You will also find many design colleges that offer admission solely on the basis of Class 12 merit.

Symbiosis Institute of Design offers BDes as a 4-year programme in full-time mode with an annual intake of 207 students. The Institute offers admission to the respective course on the basis of merit and accepted entrance exams. Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in Class 12, along with securing valid scores of entrance exams such as SEED + PRPI for final admission.

The fee of the B.Des programme at NIFT is around INR 14 lakhs.

The JLU Bhopal BDes course runs for four years. For this duration, the university charges hostel fees ranging from INR 5.3 Lacs to INR 6.5 lakh.

BDes courses at Saintgits Design School have a total seat intake of 30 in 2025. Candidates are alloted these seats once they successfully clear the SDAT entrance exam for BDes admissions.
