Geology is a subject that is considered by many Indian students. The career opportunities available for students who finish their studies in this field are high.
Geologists is responsible of :
•Finding enough supplies of natural resources
•Develop natural resources in such a way that it doesn't harm the environment
•Conserve soil and maintain the productivity of agriculture
•Understand patterns of the climate
By using their knowledge on the forces as well as factors of the planet, geologists and geoscientists seek to restructure what happened in the past and anticipate what is going to happen in the future.
After successful completion of the program, you can take up a career in fields such as Petrology, Paleontology, Geophysics, Mining, Environmental Education, Research, Field Study, etc.
Students of geology can also appear for the UPSC or SSC entrance exams and get jobs with the state or central governments.

All are excellent options and will place you in organisation like Geological survey of INDIA, Govt Mining Departments, Director General of Hydro carbon, Central Ground water board, Indian bureau of mines, Govt mining departments, Mining companies like ONGC, Oil India etc. Oil and Gas exploration companies like Reliance, Hindustan Zinc limited and other research organization companies.
UPSC conducts exam for geologist if you wish to work there.
