Both the courses are good. Having a biotechnology degree opens up many more doors in various fields like industrial processes, management jobs while microbiology jobs are more research oriented. You also have an option of doing an MBA in Biotechnology, which a new and emerging field of work. The job market while not absolutely lucrative is growing with the biotechnology sector on the increase in India. There are jobs in the agricultural, pharmaceuticals, medical and various other fields, making it a very flexible subject.

Thus, ultimately, it depends upon the interest level and passion of students and they can choose to pursue degrees in any of these fields. Both Biotechnology and Microbiology are equally beneficial for career growth. Having a biotechnology degree opens up many more doors, in various fields like industrial processes, management jobs while microbiology jobs are more research oriented. Both are equally good and have scope but B.Sc. Agriculture has wider scope than B.Sc. Microbiology. B.Sc. Microbiology has good scope in Healthcare and allied industries but comparatively B.Sc. Agriculture has more job opportunities and scope in private and government job.

Admission for B.Sc. Microbiology is done on merit basis for most Colleges/Universities. However, there are various entrance exams such as CUET AMUEEE BHU UET IISER IAT, etc. For admission to various top Institutions. The average fee for B.Sc. Microbiology ranges from INR 20,000 - 50,000. B.Sc. Biotechnology Admission 2023 in India is mostly done through merit I. e based on the scores obtained by a candidate in 10+2. However, some colleges offer B.Sc. Biotechnology courses, grant admission based on the entrance exams such as CUET KITEEE, KCET etc. Conducted at State or University level.

Yes, you can do an M.Sc. In microbiology after a B.Sc. (honors) in Zoology. To pursue an M.Sc. In microbiology, most colleges simply require that you hold a Bachelor's degree in Science. Few colleges may require you to have at least a 50% grade point average in your graduate degree. Also, you may have to qualify for the CUET-PG to get admission into a government college, but private colleges provide direct admission to B.Sc. Graduates. Some top colleges offering the M.Sc.
