Hello Devyani,
Since you are a science student you get the benefit in commerce stream and can apply for the colleges according to your preferences and locality. Still in my suggestion you should give a thought to engineering as now many scholarships on 12th basis and further performance in college leads to fees relaxation, in case you belong to general category, else other minorities get scholarships for their undergraduate programs.

Yes, you can admission with 70%. From year 2017 Panjab University is organising centralized counseling for all of its courses in the affiliated colleges. However, this isn't the case for B.A
Admission for BA in DAV will be tough with 51% marks however it depends on many factors. Hard facts –
Nautical science - It has the potential to deliver good careers.
Other than all the glittery and glory stuff mention along with it. Truth is it works only if you get your first break spot on eg. You get to complete cadetship without delay. For me to complete 18 months sea time it took 5 years. Recession+agents loots+company waiting period as no cargo and ship were sold.
All the stuff people say like package of 1020k USD, it's not true. You get it once you have experience of Masters for 10 years or more. Plus nor people get silver line careers like LNG/LPG.
