B.Tech Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for B.Tech at Tolani Maritime Institute are as follows:

1. Academic Qualifications: Candidates must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII
2. Entrance Tests: Qualifying in IMUCET and TMISAT is mandatory for admission to the B.Tech Marine Engineering programme at Tolani Maritime Institute
3. Physical Fitness: The Institute has laid down detailed minimum physical fitness and medical standards, which candidates must meet
4. Age and Marital Status: Male candidates born on or after September 1, 2002, are eligible to apply for the 2023 batch. There is a two-year age relaxation for female candidates, and only unmarried candidates will be considered
5. Diploma Holders: Candidates who have passed a 3-year Engineering Diploma in Marine/Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics from colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 60% marks or a 4-year Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering from colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education can also apply
6. Lateral Entry: For lateral entry into the 2nd year of the B.Tech Marine Engineering program, candidates must have passed the 1st year training from the Alternate Training Scheme, approved by DG Shipping

Please note that having a Passport is mandatory at the time of admission.

The eligibility criteria for admission to any one of the programs in Engineering is a minimum aggregate of 60% or secures 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in class XII. The admission shall be made on the All-India Rank (AIR) of JEE Main-2024. The cutoff rank for different branches may vary depending on the availability of seats and the number of applicants.

If you have scored 70% in JEE Main, your expected percentile score would be between 90 and 923. This means your expected rank would be between 90,000 and 1,10,000. Based on the previous year’s data, this rank may not be sufficient to secure a seat in Chitkara College of Applied Engineering, Chandigarh, as the cutoff rank for most of the branches was below 50,000. However, you can still try to apply for the counselling process and see if you can get a seat in your preferred branch. 

The eligibility criteria for B.Tech at Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) Pune is as follows: The candidate must have passed Class 12 with relevant subjects with at least 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for the reserved category). The relevant subjects include Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, and Entrepreneurship. Aspirants who have passed Diploma with a minimum duration of three years with at least 45% aggregate in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted can also apply. The university also reserves seats for NRIs/International candidates in every division (Supernumerary Quota). The selection criteria include JEE Main/ MHT CET/ CUET/SAT India/ SSPU Entrance Test/ PERA.
