Lucknow University BTech admission is based on a valid JEE Main score, followed by AKTU Counselling. Lucknow University also offers lateral entry to this course. BTech lateral entry admission is done on the basis of the UPSEE score. Candidates must have passed Class 12 (PCM) with a minimum of 45% - 60% aggregate from a recognised board in order to be eligible for BTech admission at Lucknow University.

The candidate should have completed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognised board or university. The candidate should have studied Physics Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in their 10+2 curriculum. The candidate should have obtained a minimum percentage of marks (usually 50% to 60%, depending on the university and programme) in the 10+2 examination. The candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognised board with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The candidate should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination. The candidate should have appeared for any of the following entrance exams: JEE Main UPSEE, or BITSAT.
