Biotechnology course is all about using concepts of Biology for tweaking and modifying biological systems, cell structures, biological processes etc. So that they can be used in Engineering and Technology related applications to improve and enrich various sectors such as healthcare, food processing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals etc. And solve problems arising in these sectors. It depends on your interests and career plan. The options after B.Sc in Biotech would be to do your Masters, and then do your doctoral studies, if you wish to be in the area of Research or a job in academia. Some options are available for getting a job in the area of Production control or Quality Analyst in organizations such as Biocon, You should be really good with your basics on concepts such as Fermentation technology, Bio-remediation etc. However, it is worthwhile doing your Masters and your doctoral studies Ph.D and then trying for a job. My personal advice to you will be not to go for bio-medical. Although it's a great field to study, but there is isn't much you can do after B.Tech in bio-medical. So many of my friends despite having two digit rank in GATE are going for IT company jobs. Because they feel like there is no future in INDIA for a student graduating from Biomed or biotech.

For the lateral Admission in B.Tech Biotechnology, you should have 55% marks. You will have to attend JEE/ AIPMT/ HPCET or any equivalent entrance test recognised by Government.
