Yes, you can use your UGC NET score in Environmental Science to apply for a Ph.D. in Botany. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has made it possible to use UGC NET scores for Ph.D. admission. However, the final decision depends on the specific university’s admission criteria and policies.
It’s a good idea to check the specific requirements of the universities you’re interested in, as some might have additional criteria or entrance exams for interdisciplinary admissions. If you have any particular universities in mind, I can help you look up their specific requirements.?

To pursue a Botany course, you need to opt for Biology as a core subject in Class 12. Since PCM does not include Biology, and Botany studies the plant life including their structure, growth, reproduction, physiology, ecology, evolution, and environmental interactions, you will not be eligible for Botany course admission.

In botany, you can choose to explore different species of plants from fungi, algae, pteridophytes, etc.. You can explore its diversity and learn about its pros and cons. But in Agriculture, you can explore the crops and their variety and discover new species which can be helpful to farmers and the crop can survive in different conditions or tough conditions like heatwaves, drought and so on. You learn about soil and its type and you can help farmers in Agriculture centres to show them, how much fertile their soil is, etc.
