Being a specialised Science subject, it is not highly popular as a Union Public Service Commission optional. Nevertheless, there have been toppers who were able to secure a high rank in the Union Public Service Commission civil services exam with botany optionally. Generally, there are just three subjects in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, known Biology Chemistry and Physics. As per the current news released by the National Testing Agency, the Biology in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test exam would be partied into two Biology and Zoology. Yes, you may join Indian Space Research organisation (ISRO) at the level of Scientific Assistant but not as a scientist also, you can join as a technician or assistant engineer. It's on the lower end of the hierarchy. However, Indian Space Research organisation allows you the option of part-time or correspondence study, and after completing a Master of Science you can get promoted to Scientist-SC.
