No, business analytics and data science are not the same. Business analytics involves statistics, maths and information science. It also teaches you to develop a strategic approach for an organisation. Whereas, the study of data science would teach to design, develop and deploy an algorithm that supports in business decision making. They manage and organise large chunks of data to analyse it. The University of Melbourne has 1-year coursework in business analytics.

Your M.Tech will depend on your Bachelor's degree. If you have done B.Tech in CSE or IT then you can do M.Tech. Bachelors in Technology is necessary. All the best.
