The interview process is part of the admission procedure at IIMs. Following the release of your CAT results, you must apply online at the official website of the IIM to which you wish to be admitted.
(a) Shortlisting: Based on your application, CAT scores, and academic performance, your profile will be shortlisted for the personal interview round.
(b) Your interview duration can range from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, depending on the panel's discussion.
(c) In the IIM interview round, the questions are asked based on a variety of topics, and typically anything related to management could be asked. In general, the questions revolve around your academic profile, family, and current affairs.
Some of the most common questions asked in IIM interviews are as follows:
1. The most common question that is asked in IIM interview is, "Please tell us about yourself. "
2. Why do you want to do an MBA after XYZ's graduation?
3. Why do you think you deserve to be admitted to IIM?
4. Tell us about the difference between a leader and a manager. What do you want to be?
5. You have done some work for the XYZ company. What was your experience?
6. What will you do in XYZ's corporate-life situation?
7. How would you handle team conflicts as a manager?
8. Your views on current topics, for example, the recession, could be asked.
9. Technical questions will be asked based on your degree or those related to economics.
10. They can even ask about your email name if there is anything unique about it. Therefore, you need to prepare well for your profile and current events.
The weightage of the interview varies at every IIM, and the minimum weightage of the interview score is 15 percent at IIM Udaipur and the maximum is 44 percent at IIM Kozhikode.
After the interview process is over, a merit list of selected candidates is published by the respective IIMs. The following factors influence this final merit list: CAT score, VARC score, DILR score, and interview.
