Ritik, if you are planning to take the civil services exam, you would be aware that you have to prepare for your mains which requires reading up on not just newspapers but also subject matter. You are expected to know all aspects of the subject that you are selecting as a main. This requires intense course book study. I don't think that one year gap will affect your future in anyway. A lot of people in this country take a gap for a lot of reasons. I am sure you would have a reason of your own. This might come up in an interview but be assured that this will not be the deciding factor. Hence you should not worry too much and not try to hide this fact (it should not come out as deliberate attempt to hide information ) .
