Hi, the best institutes for CAT preparation are TIME. IMS, Career Launcher. But you need to decide which is the best by checking out the best material provided, faculty etc.

For CAT, I would suggest you to join a good coaching institute and also give various sets of mock tests. This would help you to know where you even stand at the end of the day. Exam is quite tough. But, if you keep giving mocks and know your strengths, you can crack it. If you don't want to join a coaching class, get the books required, start practicing and buy various mock tests online and keep practicing. Books recommended: Time class books or either IMS class books.

No, I don't think doing B.Com is helpful for CAT as CAT is based on the basic syllabus which we study in school.

See, CAT is an entrance which is all about your aptitude in 3 fields basically and that is verbal, logical reasoning, data interpretation and quantitative aptitude. So, it's not about going with many books and hindering around to learn from different books as of my experience I found that NCERTs are the best to revise up all your basic concepts upto 10th standard. Moreover, for English and other sections, I suggest you to go through all the books you get from your coaching classes or buy some coaching institute module which is freely available. And practice from that as much as you can. And, if still, you want more and your soul is not

CAT exam is conducted, generally, in the last week of November or first Sunday of December. For IIMs and top B-Schools, you need to start studying at least 8 months before the exam date. Don't worry I can help you. Cracking CAT without a coaching is bit difficult task. I would suggest you- dedicated work is more important. If you are planning for your own studies, try to study approximately 6 hours a day.Try to solve questions based on the syllabus. Read Hindu newspaper editorials. Also, try to seek guidance from someone who has cracked CAT before. Also, there are a lot of mock tests available on the internet. Try to attend after your preparation. Always be focused and dedicated. Do your best.

Buy few books of Arun Sharma especially in Quaint and DILR and finish all lod 1 and lod 2 questions. Subscribe to channels like Takshashila Shiksha on Youtube, they give topics by topics explanation and conduct workshops as wells. In the end, subscribe to mock tests from time, career launcher and IMS. You are sure to get a good result.
