Hi Ipsita,
There is no standard strategy for CAT exam. It depends on how prepared you are for different sections and what level you are. Some students are already good with QA and RC, so they work on verbal and might take less time to prepare. So, it will depend on your basic standard in the different section of the exam.

Hi Manasvi,
First of all, you need to understand the syllabus:
This is a useful tip for almost any exam. Understand the syllabus by going through past years papers and official guidelines. CAT can be segmented into four broad parts-
Quantitative Ability
Data Interpretation
Logical Reasoning
Verbal Ability
The concepts used in this examination are broadly of class 10 level. However, the questions are little bit tricky to solve and require good amount of logical thinking. But it can be developed by practice.

There is no specific required time for preparation. It depends from person to person and his/her ability to grasp concepts.
For majority students, I'd recommend joining a one year program at a proper coaching center. It typically starts around August, September and coaches you till the exam next year.
Make sure that you give all their mock tests and analyze the results as well (where you went right, where you went wrong). That always help you find your strengths and weaknesses and thus tackle your main exam accordingly.

No. Calculator is not allowed in the CAT exam. However, you get an on-screen calculator that you can use. Having said that, CAT questions are generally framed in a way where you won't really required using a calculator.

Dear Sourav,
not only requires one to be good in maths but also good in reasoning and current affairs. So as you say that you are not good in mathematics, I would advise you not to for CAT. However, if your accounts and taxation are good, you could definitely go for CA course. even CS if you like. It is just a rumor that CA and CS are hard. They are not hard, just a bit lengthy.
