I appeared for CAT and MAT exam and scored CAT 82.5% and MAT 99.7 %. I went around to find a good management institute in Delhi and visited quite a few colleges. But when I came to EMPI the first thing which struck me was the green campus. Then after meeting the students who gave me a positive review about the faculty, facilities and the MNC collaborations made me go for EMPI. The faculty is one of the best industry professionals who make sure they bring out the best in a student. The students are well trained with the help of management competitions and academics. Talking about the recent placements and the major recruiters are some o

Some colleges do not need entrance score. They only see your academic performance in your UG courses. Few more colleges can be selected by you in personal interview and some colleges organise their own entrance test at college level.

CAT scores are automatically sent to IIMs you selected in your CAT application. IIM-Ahmedabad is the top MBA institute in the country. The cut-off depends on the percentile achieved by other test takers. Mostly, you should score around 99 percentile to get short-listed for the interview. Your previous academic grades have some weightage in the selection. Every year changes happen so you should be up to date. CAT institutes help you to prepare for the exam pattern, etc.

To get into universities or top colleges, you are required to take CAT. But there are colleges that accept other exams like ATMA, CMAT. Colleges like NMIMS, Xavier, Symbiosis, IBS have their own entrance exams which are also accepted by some other colleges in the country. Check out these links:

CAT is an exam where your basics need to be strong. They will ask you questions anyhow by combining two topics together or putting up a single topic example in a unique and different way.
The main topics that a student should prepare would be time distance, time speed, probability, ages, dice, ratio and proportions, etc., from Quants.
Verbal is considered to be the most difficult area in CAT exam as you need to have a strong hold on English language i.e. you must be having a very good vocabulary, grammar should be perfect, etc.

Verbal section consists of numerous numbers of words that you are unaware of like parsimonious, anachronism, cryptic
first learn the vocabulary then implement those words in your spoken English then try to read as much as you can the interested topics to keep your focus on.
After vocabulary, learn grammar. You will perform well if you do that.

No, the test is in MCQ format, Important topics in
Quantitative Ability -
Number System: Ensure that you are clear with the basic concepts of this topic. Arithmetic: Though Arithmetic has a vast number of sub-topics, in the last 3 years, only a couple of questions have featured from this topic. Algebra: Considering this has been one of the most dominant topics in CAT in the last three years, it makes a lot of sense to place extra emphasis on this topic. Geometry: Another topic which has featured quite a lot in the last few years. Permutation & Combination/Probability: This is another topic that contributes around one to two questions to
