Yes, you can apply for this programme because most of the universities offer the same for all the stream but if you are not from commerce stream then you need to work hard to understand all concepts of accounts and economics.

Generally, there are no such criteria linked to your class 12th result, but yes there is a 2 staged entrance exam held by various designing colleges. In the first stage, you need to clear the General Aptitude test (GAT) and Creative ability test (CAT) followed by studio test and personal interview in most of the institutions. Some institutes like NID also prefers a Portfolio for B.Des programme.

I would like to inform you that there are no differences in job opportunities depending on whether you have completed Diploma or done class 12th before engineering as it's always the degree courses that matter in job opportunities and not the intermediate degrees like class 12th or Diploma courses. However, job opportunities after Diploma may increase only if the candidate has 2+ years of experience after completion of Diploma and before opting for engineering.
