JEE exam is preferred, but your class 12th score will matter the most. Along with that, letter of recommendations and good profile of co-curricular activities will also help. Most important is the German language, if you can take a course as it will be an added advantage.

First decide whether you want to do animation or computers. Routes are different. First is direct but the second is through one of the entrance exams for engineering.

BCA (if you had maths/computer science/information practice subject in class 12th)
So, choose the programme according to your caliber and interest.

After PCM, you can choose from among many fields, these are however the most common ones.
B.E./B.Tech
B.Sc
B.Arch
Defence
Navy
and so on.
If you have other interests then you can consider you can see B.Com, BBA, B.Sc-LLB, Journalism, Animation, Designing, etc.

Ideally, you should opt for B.E. mechanical engineering. Alternate optiosn could be a Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering which is a 3 year diploma course. Check this and explore:
