CBSE and CISCE are national boards while every state has its own education board. All the educational boards in India are equally good and are acceptable throughout India for competitive exams and jobs. Yes you can give your improvement exam in 2026 as a private candidate without appearing for it in 2025. According to the CBSE rules a candidate who has passed an examination can reappear for improvement of performance in one or more subjects in the succeeding year only. This means you have the option to take the improvement exam in 2026 if you passed your board exams in 2025.
To register as a private candidate you'll need to fill out the application form usually available from September to October and submit it along with the required fee. The examination will typically be held in March or April with results declared in May or June

In order to receive challenges or objections against any inaccurate or flawed response, CBSE first distributes the tentative answer key. Following an analysis of the challenges made against the provisional key, the CTET final answer key is made public.
