You can check the status of PCC made by the concerned passport office in the official portal. Generally, the process may take from 7 working days up to 21 working days. However, this can vary as per the application and police station. It is vital to track the application of your Police Clearance Certificate application from the Passport Seva website by providing your Application Number and using the Track Application option.

A PCC is also known as the certificate of good standing that proves if an individual has prior convictions. It is basically an official document that is used to verify your current criminal status. A Police Clearance Certificate serves to prove that the applicant is of sound character.

The documents required for a PCC are:
Original passport with self-attested photocopy of its first two and last two pages including ECR and Non-ECR page
Present address proof
Documentary proof of applying for residential status, employment (copy of employment contract) or long-term visa for immigration
Sponsorship declaration by the sponsor (for dependent family members)

Once you apply to become a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen, you and your family members should include a police certificate. However, when you apply as a visitor, temporary worker, or student, then the Government of Canada may require a certificate. You may apply for a Police Clearance Certificate at your local police station, passport office, embassy or consulate, or BLS International Centre.

PCC is only for jobs, immigration, or long visas. If someone's just going on tourist visa, no PCC is required. It is recommended to always check embassy rules. Some countries also want your passport, college proof, money papers, maybe even health record.

In case the applicant has been able to clear all his/her backlogs, then he/she may not be required to submit a backlog certificate. Applicants who still have backlogs will be required to submit the certificate.

Yes, if the backlog has still not been cleared then a backlog has to be submitted. This will help universities the applicant has applied to understand the number of backlogs an applicant has and how it will affect the applicant's admission and performance in the course.

Yes, backlogs can be mentioned in your degree certificate or marks card. They show the subjects you failed and later cleared, giving an overview of your academic performance.
