In Chandigarh University, the Fine Arts department is designed to give students hands-on experience in many areas of art. Beginners start at the Foundation Studio, learning art history, culture, and basic techniques. Students can also work in the Painting Studio, using paints, brushes, and canvas for different kinds of artwork. The Sculpture Studio is available for making sculptures from clay, POP, wood, and more. The Applied Studio focuses on modern art applications like animation, films, and digital designs. To display their work, students have the Exhibition Hall, and for print art, the Printmaking Studio is equipped with machines and tools. In total, there are around six studios, each offering a unique learning space, materials, and tools for practical art experience.

Industry visits form a key part of the Psychology curriculum at Chandigarh University. Students are taken to hospitals, special education centers, rehabilitation institutes, and counseling facilities where they can witness real-time psychological interventions. These visits help students learn how theories are applied in clinical and organizational settings, understand administrative procedures, and develop professional communication skills. Exposure to professionals and ongoing cases builds confidence, practical understanding, and empathy, which are essential for careers in counseling, therapy, and human services. By integrating these visits with internships and lab work, students gain comprehensive, hands-on experience, making them better prepared for employment in both domestic and international mental health organizations.

Chandigarh University has hosted different events for Psychology students like Tech Invent 2024, which had activities on past life regression and psychological testing. Students also took part in discussions led by child psychologist Prof. (Dr.) P.K. Malhi from PGIMER Chandigarh. Hypnotherapy sessions by Ms. Renu Thakur and workshops on behaviour analysis gave them direct practical knowledge. Big events such as the International Conference on Behavioural Sciences in 2023 also opened opportunities to learn about sustainable society and mental health issues. Such programs give psychology students exposure, confidence, and a better link between theory and practice.

Learning psychology is not only about reading, it is also about exploring real problems. Students at Chandigarh University can join research projects as part of their course. These projects give them experience in planning, studying, and writing research. Students get to study different topics, gather data, and understand human behavior in a practical way. Many students have worked on projects like “Psychological well-being of children during COVID-19 in Bhutan”, “Association of COVID-19 Fear with Depression: A Correlational Study”, “ANIMAL ASSISTED THERAPY AND MENTAL HEALTH: A BIBLIOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS”, and “Evolution of LGBTQ+ Community in India: Historical Perspective”, etc. 

I heard that Chandigarh University provides a lot of opportunities to psychology students at Chandigarh University to attend various workshops and seminars. I heard that eminent speakers like Dr. Rajesh Gupta from PGIMER delivered sessions on CBT and psychological well-being. Clinical psychologists from healthcare institutes such as Fortis have also visited to discuss mental health challenges. Students also took part in unique activities like Psyche Fest and Tech Invent events, which included themes of past life regression, psychological testing, and mindfulness sessions. Moreover, visits to institutes like the Government Rehabilitation Institute of Intellectually Disabled and the Institute for Blind in Chandigarh helped them see the practical side of psychology. Guest talks from spiritual teachers like Karma Yeshe Rabgye Lama also added value by focusing on happiness and inner peace and more such events and seminars takes place. 

First of all, let me clarify that Chandigarh University Psychology students are not subject to any particular, stringent attendance policies or regulations.  I understand that attendance must be at least 75%. You will not be permitted to take exams even if you are an excellent student if you have poor attendance. Because they didn't take this seriously, I witnessed a few students struggle. Regular attendance at classes is therefore always preferable. It protects you from last-minute stress and keeps you up to date on assignments, studio sessions, and practical work—all of which are crucial for the fine arts. Because fine arts is more about practice than theory, regular attendance also enhances learning.
