It's very nice to see that you are interested in doing your graduation in engineering after completion of the Diploma via lateral mode of admission. Yes, it's indeed a good idea. It is indeed very nice to hear from you that you are interested in doing your engineering in chemical branch in a college in the state of Maharashtra. There are a plenty of colleges in which you can pursue this branch. However, I hope you have appeared for MHT CET since this is the main entrance exam that is valid for majority of the colleges. Of course for some colleges it is the JEE Mains or JEE Advanced that is criteria. UGC has recently reiterated its embargo on universities offering professional courses including engineering by means of distance education. Hence I would like to advise you that please don't think on these lines. I am attaching a link that will give you information about this.
