It would be recommended that you make a choice amongst optional subjects list of IFS exam like zoology, botany, physics, chemistry, maths etc. And the subject that catches your interest of study coz it is crucial to study optional subject in detail and vast along with follow up of its current news, hence subject choice should be such that, you find reading the subject interesting and easy to go with. Hi, the curriculum for preparation to appear for Indian Forest Services examination conducted under UPSC is quiet vast in nature but yet accomplishable. The IFS exam takes place in 3 rounds- preliminary exam, main exam, and interview. The curriculum for preliminary examination is same as that of UPSC (IAS, IPS) exam including History, geography, economics, and political Science, international relations, ecology, Science and technology and current affairs in detail along with an aptitude test. Upon, selection for Mains round, you need to make a choice out of list of subjects that you have to study in detail along with all other subjects

It all depends on how you prepare for the exams, as UPSC is one of the toughest exams in today's date. If you are interested in becoming an IAS officer, my suggestion for you would be to opt for BA Bachelor of Arts. Their course covers the syllabus required for UPSC, so it will be helpful for you if you are dedicated to do the same.

After doing your graduation in Aeronautical Engineering branch you can definitely and surely think of appearing for civil services examination for becoming an IAS officer. The basic criteria for civil services examination is graduation in any branch and any field. I am very happy to know that at this stage itself you have decided on your aim or goal in life. For that, you need to have graduation degree with you. After that you have to clear Civil services exam. Once you qualify all exams and interview. You will become IAS officer.

Yes, you can. Although, it would be very difficult and demanding. Study hard and party harder should be the goal of the college. But, if you work little harder in your graduation than you can cover up to 70% of the syllabus of the UPSC Exam. The UPSC Exams cycle consist of three stages Prelims, Mains and Interview, which normally has a fixed schedule in August (for Prelims), Nov/Dec (for Mains) and March/April (for Interviews).
