No, it is not possible to get admission to NIT Patna directly on the basis of merit of the qualifying examination. Candidates seeking admission to any of the NIT Patna courses have to appear for an entrance examination. The institute accepts the scores of JEE Main for BTech, JEE Main Paper 2 for BArch, GATE for MTech, and NIMCET for MCA.

NIT Patna BTech CSE Cutoff has been declared for the 2026 admission cycle. This year in 2026, the round 5 closing rank for All India general seat is 17282 and 18862 for home state general seat. Similarly, the round 5 closing rank for All India OBC category if 5437, and is 5941 for home state OBC category candidates.

NIT Patna had a successful placement season last year as more than 100 companies visited the campus to take part in the placement process. NIT Patna the highest package 2025 for the UG batch stood at INR 41.37 LPA, while it was INR 12.5 LPA for the PG graduates. The median NIT Patna BTech salary was INR 8 LPA, on another hand it was INR 5.10 LPA for PG programmes. The average package for the graduating UG and PG students was INR 9.90 LPA and INR 7.80 LPA.

NIT Patna minimum package offered to the graduating batch of 2025 was INR 5 LPA. The minimum salary was INR 3 LPA and INR 4 LPA in 2024 for four-year UG and two-year PG programme students.

A total of 524 offers were made to the class of 2025 by numerous renowned companies across diverse sectors. Out of these 524 offers, 505 offers were made to the undergraduates while only 19 offers were made to the students pursuing postgraduate programmes. The latest placement statistics of 2026 has not been released yet but the placement data will soon be updated here once published by the institute.
