A National Service Scheme (NSS) unit for community service and social projects is one of the few useful extracurricular activities that DIET offers. There are sports like football and cricket but the facilities are simple. Annual festivals and other cultural events offer opportunities for student participation. There aren't many clubs; theatrical, tech, or photography clubs aren't mentioned specifically Unlike larger institutions campus life is small and emphasizes academics over active extracurriculars.

With roughly 20–30 students placed each year and a placement rate of 10–50% DIET has a moderate placement record. IT and engineering jobs are offered by companies like TCS, HCL and Wipro. Although some report larger offers, the median compensation package for B.Tech graduates is approximately ?2.8 LPA. Although the placement cell helps students results differ by branch, with CSE performing better. The overall competitiveness of the package is impacted by the noted disadvantages of intermittent placement success and little industry exposure.

Reviews of Murshidabad's Dumkal Institute of Engineering and Technology (DIET) are not entirely consistent. Although it has good professors and infrastructure its placement rates are poor, averaging less than 50%. The college is criticized for its lack of industry exposure and several departments antiquated facilities although it is commended for its discipline and affordability. Although the WBJEE 2025 cutoffs are not yet known historical patterns point to modest entrance requirements. While DIET is a good option for students on a tight budget it might not be competitive for placements as prestigious institutions like Techno Main Salt
