NIT-K (Surathkal) is better in terms of placements than IIT Bhubaneswar. Recently IIT Bhubaneswar might get some good placements but NIT-K is much older and have more connections.

As per my knowledge, the classes are starting from 18th July 2018.
But you should definitely come on 16th July for hostel admission, room allotment, IRIS account activation and Mess enrollment.

Congratulations. You should definitely go for it. One of the best branches in NIT-K according to the placements.

1st years are supposed to stay in the hostel after 7:30 PM. 2nd year to 4th-year boys don't have a time limit.
Girls' Hostel block time is different. All girls should enter hostel within 11 PM. For any exceptions, you need to take prior permission. As such, there is no particular timetable in the hostel, but time for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner is fixed by the mess.

NITTE University is a recognised one. It has been ranked 77th in NIRF 2018 data (National Institutional Ranking Framework). It was ranked among 100 education institutions. It has A grade accreditation. University has its eight institute and teach all the professional and technical courses.
