Usually the university releases its application form for postgraduate courses in the month of June. Candidates can access the application form through the university's official portal and can apply once the form is out.

The eligibility criteria to get admissions into MSc courses at Mangalore University are that candidates are required to complete their BSc degree with Chemistry as optional/major/special subject with a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST/Category –I candidates. Moreover, candidates must have studied Physics and Mathematics as optional/major/minor/subsidiary subjects either at the BSc or at Higher Secondary level.

However, before getting enrolled, candidates are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria, i.e., the successful completion of the Class 12 examination or its equivalent from a recognised board with related stream/ subjects. The documents that are required for admission to BSc courses at Mangalore University-affiliated-colleges are meant to be proof of educational qualification, proof of age identity, etc. The names of the documents that candidates should bring at the time of admission confirmation or while applying for the course online are:
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and passing certificates,
- Two passport-size photographs
- Aadhaar card
- Caste Certificate
