• Courses: Both colleges offer B Tech in various branches, such as Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, etc. However, NIE Institute of Technology also offers B Tech in Industrial and Production Engineering and Information Science and Engineering, which are not available at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering.
• Fees: The fee structure for B Tech at NIE Institute of Technology is 2.38 Lacs for the entire course, while the fee structure for B Tech at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering is 2.50 Lacs for the entire course. However, the fees may vary depending on the category, quota, and scholarship of the students.
• Placements: Both colleges have a dedicated placement cell that provides training and guidance to the students for getting placed in reputed companies. According to the official websites, some of the top recruiters of NIE Institute of Technology are Amazon, Cisco, Dell, IBM, Infosys, L&T, Microsoft, Oracle, TCS, Wipro, etc., while some of the top recruiters of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering are Accenture, Bosch, Cognizant, HCL, HP, Infosys, Mindtree, Mphasis, TCS, Tech Mahindra, etc.

Furthermore, the institution has received accreditation from the NAAC. Notably, NIE stands as the second engineering college in Karnataka and the first in Mysore.

Presently, NIE Mysore offers a diverse range of over 20 courses spanning two streams, Engineering and IT. Noteworthy are the State Scholarships provided by the institute, namely epass and Vidyasiri. Among the distinguished alumni of the college is NR Narayan Murthy, the former chairman of Infosys.
