Survival at Karnataka State Open University as a fresher is quite easy. It is an open university, hence visiting the university is not mandatory. Students can study while sitting in the comfort of their houses. As freshers, students may find difficulty in navigating the online learning management systems but worry not counsellors are available for complete guidance.

The Karnataka State Open University offers 113 seats for its MSc programme. This number also includes the MSc seats available at the colleges affiliated with KSOU. The minimum eligibility for MSc specialisations at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject with a minimum aggregate of 50%. For instance, an applicant looking to take up Biochemistry or Biotechnology needs to have a degree in Biological Science; to pursue Computer Science, one should have a BSc in Electronics or any other allied subject.
