KSOU, Mysuru, is a state public university established in 1996. KSOU Mysore ODL courses have recently ventured into online education, offering a wide range of courses and degree programmes online. As an open university in Mysore, KSOU has its headquarters in Mysore along with 21 regional centres across the state. NIRF 2025 has ranked KSOU at the #2 spot in the "Open University" category.
MOU offers courses through 5 affiliated schools of study. The university offers UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, PhD level programmes. - Established as a State Public University, Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Mysuru was finally accomplished on June 1, 1996.
- Before receiving recognition as KSOU University, it received attention as the Institute of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education (ICC and CE).
- Paved out from the University of Mysore in 1996, KSOU Mysuru is also recognised as a Centre of Higher Education under Open and Distance Learning (ODL).

KSOU MBA programme is All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved and other programmmes of the university are also approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Moreover, it is a two-year full-time programme and KSOU University MBA admission is based on candidates' performance in the last qualifying examination. Additionally, the total number of seat intake is 10,000.
KSOU offers hostel accommodation for men with a nominal fee of INR 50 per head on day. It has 7 hostels comprising 3 rooms. Nine students are allowed to stay in 1 hostel. In this virtual placement drive, more than 10 companies participated to fill nearly 2,000 job vacancies.
