The University of Oklahoma requires a four-year bachelor's degree or its US equivalent from international students as a mandatory academic eligibility criterion for graduate programs. The OU generally does not consider a three-year bachelor's degree as equivalent to a US bachelor's degree. Students with a three-year bachelor's degree (such as BSc, BCom, BA) may need to complete an additional year, such as an honors year, before being eligible for graduate programs. Applicants must make sure to reach this benchmark; otherwise, it might lead to rejection of the application.

The University of Oklahoma does to specify any particular minimum GPA cut-off for admission in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The university, however, recommends maintaining a strong GPA as it can be a contributing factor towards admitting a student during the admission process. The university looks for more academic requirements, and not just GPA, proof of English language proficiency, and submission of all mandatory documents as required for the admission process, as per the desired program. Maintaining a strong GPA sort of helps a student's profile during the final decision-making process.
