Importance of JEE Main 2026 City Intimation Slip: What to Do After Intimation Slip is Released
NTA releases the JEE Main city intimation slip to let the candidates know about the exam city where the exam centre will be allotted to the candidates well in advance. This is done so that the candidates can make travel arrangements to the allotted exam city.
As soon as the JEE Main city intimation slip 2026 is released, candidates must take the following actions:
- Check the exam city and date allotted to you in the JEE Main 2026 exam city intimation slip.
- Next, check the distance of the city allotted to you from your home.
- As per the distance, make travel arrangements well in advance in such a manner that you reach the exam centre on the allotted exam date.
What to Do if the City Intimation Slip of JEE Mains Session 2 is not Issued?
If any candidate does not get their city intimation slip, then they should contact the NTA helpline. The NTA help line number is given below:
- 011-40759000 (between 10 am to 5 pm)
Before calling the helpline, candidates should also ensure that their JEE Main form has been accepted by NTA. If the application form has been rejected due to any error, the city intimation slip is not issued.
JEE Main 2026 April Admit Card
Note that the JEE Main city intimation slip is not the same as the JEE Main admit card. A candidate cannot use the city intimation slip at the exam centre to take entry at the exam hall. The city intimation slip is just an intimation of the allotted exam city and exam date. Apart from that, it will have no use.
On the other hand, the JEE Main 2026 admit card is one of the most crucial documents. It is issued to the candidates 3-4 days before their allotted exam date. The admit card contains the allotted exam date, time, exam centre name and address.
Apart from that, important exam day guidelines and instructions are also made available with the JEE Main admit card 2026. All the important instructions on the admit card are to be followed by the candidates on the exam day.
The JEE Main 2026 admit card will act as proof of the candidate's identity. This document should be kept safe even after the exam is over, as it will have importance in the counselling process during JoSAA.
Difference Between JEE Main City Intimation Slip and Admit Card
Candidates have to keep in mind that the JEE Main city allotment slip and the admit card are two different things. Candidates cannot take entry to the exam hall of JEE Main using the city intimation slip.
Check the difference between the city intimation slip and the admit card below:
| JEE Main City Intimation Slip | JEE Mains Admit Card |
|---|---|
| Cannot be used to take entry at the exam hall | Use for entry at the exam centre |
| It is not a proof of candidature | It is a proof of candidature |
| Contains the allotted exam date | Contains the allotted exam date as well as shift, and time |
| Contains the allotted exam city | Contains the exact allotted exam centre and address |
| Does not have exam day guidelines and instructions | Has exam day guidelines and instructions |
Common Mistakes to Avoid After the Release of JEE Main Session 2 Advanced City Slip
Once the JEE Main city slip is out, candidates often make the following errors:
Not taking the city slip seriously: Candidates should take the city intimation slip seriously, as it contains the advanced information of exam date and city. Make all arrangements as soon as possible, as per the city and exam date allotted via the city slip.
Not acting fast enough: If the exam city is far from home, candidates should make all arrangements as soon as possible so that the exam day is not stressful.
City slip is not the admit card: The JEE Main city slip is not the admit card. Do not confuse them. On the exam day, the city slip has no use.
Make sure to avoid the above mistakes to have a stress-free exam day.
JEE Main Exam City List 2026
While filling the application form, candidates will see a list of exam cities basis the permanent and present address filled by them. Candidates have to fill in any 4 choices of all the cities visible to them. The NTA will allot one of the four cities; however, if sufficient candidates are not available for that particular city, the NTA has the right to allot any other city. Candidates must check the JEE Main city intimation slip and make travel arrangements for the exam day.
