Professors at the institution hold higher degrees and experience in practice and professional work, not only within India but around the world; some have contributed to work with bodies like WHO, UN, among others. The NIHFW has an effective and strong network of alumni who work in all sectors of public health and family welfare throughout the country. Most of the graduates find work in government health agencies of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the World Health Organization, United Nations Population Fund, and international NGOs. It is no wonder that they occupy key positions in healthcare management, policy advocacy, research institutions, and public health organizations. A number of its alumni are also present in academia, teaching, and consulting, making significant contributions to India's health and family welfare sector.
