Having a portfolio during any BA course admission is a plus, however, it is not mandatory in case of BA Fashion Design admission. Portfolios are generally required during a GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) round, which is usually conducted for master-level courses.

Of course, it's a valid way in the journey of becoming a Fashion Designer. Though with a BA in Fashion Design degree, you will need to have a portfolio, relevant work experience, the right skills, and expertise to achieve your goals of becoming a successful Designer. Merely completing a bachelor's degree can land you an entry-level job, but with constant learning and practical experience will help you become better in the field.

Though both are UG-level programs in the Fashion field, their focus are approaches are different. The Bachelor of Arts course in Fashion Design talks more about the Fashion History, Marketing, and Communication part, while the Bachelor of Design course in Fashion Design delves deeper into the technical and creative elements of the field, such as pattern making, garment construction, and trend analysis.
