Although theatre has been one of the oldest forms of performance arts practised throughout India, it has managed to sink its claws deeper into some cities than the rest. Perhaps factors such as educational and cultural establishments, better funding resources and a stronger sense of community among patrons too could play a key role in making theatre in certain cities thrive much better than the rest. Hi Juned, If you are looking to pursue a Bachelor's degree, I would suggest you to go for journalism and mass communication. There are many government universities that offer the course at much reasonable price. Some of them include Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Kurukshetra University.
Later, if you have a serious interest in direction, you can pursue a specialised course at post graduation level.
