There is always a university affiliated with the course, however, there are two kinds of universities.
1. Autonomous:
It provides its own degree and it is not dependent upon any body.
2. Affiliated:
Provides a degree of a specific university with which it is affiliated.
It is to be noted that both of them are recognized by a board in India, it's UGC, but in abroad it depends.

MBA by distance education mode is generally a two year program having total 4 semesters. In most of the institutes, there is a provision to select the number of subjects per semester. Minimum, it is 4 to 6 subjects per semester. You need to choose a college which has a Learning centre in or near to your city so that you can occasionally go there and take help in understanding or solving your queries.

Distance MBA degree certainly adds value to your resume (for a person who completed their graduation). However, there are not many firms which hire candidates with Distance MBA for managerial roles. You ask me for a justification for that? I'd simply say, there are people who had done full-time MBA and are still waiting for jobs.
Having said that, if you have a distance MBA after having Masters in your technical field that might get you into a pretty decent job. No one can assure it though.
You can use the knowledge you gained through that distance course to become a better professional and climb up the organizational ladder once you ge
