Despite that, it can still be considered relatively easier to secure a seat at than Durham University, whose acceptance rate stands at 41%. The primary advantages of life on-campus at Durham are the availability of academic resources, libraries, and student services. Living within the campus confines places you closer to social interactions, university events, and extra-curricular activities, thereby engendering strong community spirit. The historic colleges provide one-of-a-kind living environments, often with very cozy atmospheres. On-campus accommodation also guarantees added safety and convenience. Off-campus accommodation may afford some privacy or a lower rent but involves longer commutes and less immersion in university life, making many prefer on-campus living.
