No, all the students willing to enroll into Thiagarajar College of Engineering BTech courses must appear for the TNEA counselling. This counselling process is conducted at the state level for seat allotment in government and government-aided engineering colleges, university departments, and constituent colleges of Anna University. Moreover, the counselling process is conducted purely in online mode.

The entrance exam for the B Tech Mechanical Engineering is competitive.
