Talking about the first year of MTech, the general subjects taught are in line with the specialisation chosen by you in order to provide you with the foundational research knowledge of the subject area. Further, the M.Tech syllabus will differ on the basis of the specialisation you have chosen and the institution offering the M.Tech course, different colleges follow their own set of guidelines regarding the M.Tech course curriculum that includes both core and elective subjects along with project work in the last semester.

Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) ask for a minimum of 60% marks in your bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering branch. You need to work hard for your final BTech/B.E exams and make sure you get at least 60% marks overall, to be eligible for admission to the IITs in India. The competition is very high there, given their status and All-India ranking in India, and hence, their minimum marks requirement is also of a certain standard as compared to other colleges that may consider you for admission with 50 to 60% marks in graduation as well.
