I would suggest going through the recent placement details of each college you apply for from their website. At the end of graduation, you would wish to go out of college with at least 1 job offer in hand. There are off-campus opportunities in IT nowadays but still on campus might help you get a job easier as competition is a little less fierce.

Candidates who have passed/ are currently in the final year of their Bachelor's degree in the field of Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Arts/ Commerce are eligible for the exam. The GATE CSE educational eligibility criteria according to the qualifying degree of the candidate are mentioned below in detail. B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Pharma. - Engineering or Technology Bachelors degree holders in (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc. /Diploma in Engineering /Technology). B.Arch. - Bachelors degree of Architecture (5- year course) / Naval Architecture (4- year course) / Planning (4- year course). B.Sc. (Research)/BS- Bachelors degree in Science (Post-Diploma/4 years after 10+2). Pharma. D (after 10+2)- 6-year degree programme, consisting of internship or residency training, from third year onwards. MBBS Degree holders of M. B. S. and those who are in the fifth/sixth/seventh semester or higher semester of such programme. M.Sc/MA/MCA or equivalent- Masters degree in any branch of Mathematics/Science/Computer Applications/Statistics or equivalent.
