You are for mechanical engineering lateral entry means you have already saved one year from your B.Tech. Now choose a university with great care as you need to be placed in a good company. As you already know, there is a slump in this field but still there are universities which work hard for placement of their students. Eligibility Criteria : A person, who have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) with Economics/ Commerce / Business Studies / Accountancy or Any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course. So Maths is not necessary here for admission.

It is depends from company to company. We don't know the exact criteria of many companies, on what basis they shortlist the candidates. Many companies allow all candidates to sit in their recruitment process. Some companies keep criteria of percentage, this can affect you for some companies. Most of them keep the criteria of 60%. Very few companies keep criteria of 70% so do not worry. You will get lots of opportunities. Try to improve other skills and resume. This will increase your chances of shortlisting. Overall, don't think too much about it, you will have enough opportunities.
