IMI grants admission to BTech Marine Engineering depending on the performance of a candidate in IMU-CET examination. The candidates are to be subjected to centralized counselling organized by IMU, whereby seats will be assigned in order of merit and in accordance to preferences. The session usually starts in the months of August or September annually.

The School of Technology can be considered a little competitive the acceptance rate stands at 60% which means out of every 100 applicants, 60 candidates are rolled out an offer letter, which makes it hard to get into this school.
