Yes, you will get admission in 2nd year. of B.Tech as lateral entry. For lateral entry, normally you have to appear for Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). You must have a minimum of 60% marks in Diploma to appear for LEET. Incase If you have not given LEET, then try for admission in Private Colleges in your area.

Hi Satadal,
In IIT, earlier, in the academic year 2016-17, the tuition fee for socially and economically backward students at the IIT was waived off. However, now, SC/ST/PH students shall get complete fee waiver. Students whose parents earn less than Rs 1 Lacs can get full remission of the fee. At some universities, you can only get a fee waiver for your first year of study. Although you'll need a smaller tuition fee loan with a fee waiver, you should apply for the full amount of tuition fee loan. Due to the cut-throat competition, the college does not give much time after the 1st cut-off list - so it is important to decide, otherwise, the seat will get allocated to another student in the next cut-off list. To confirm your seat, you need to pay the fee. A major part of it is refundable in majority colleges in case you want to opt out. But this refund process takes time and you need to follow it regularly with the authorities. So, please check all details with the college authorities.
