The July improvement exams provide students with an opportunity to enhance their scores in specific subjects to improve their overall academic performance. These exams are not a second chance to retake the entire 12th board exams but specifically for subjects where improvement is needed.

The KIITEE marking scheme follows a system that rewards accuracy and penalizes incorrect answers:
- Marks per correct answer: 4 marks are awarded for each question you answer correctly.
- Negative marking: There is negative marking, so you will be deducted 1 mark for every question you answer incorrectly. This means strategically avoiding a question you are unsure about can be beneficial.
- Marks for unattempted questions: No marks are awarded or deducted for questions you leave blank. There's no penalty for not attempting a question.
